Every self-respecting American state must have some motto, some nickname, which is known to literally everyone. The state of Arkansas has been nicknamed the "natural state". Once it was just a publicity stunt to attract investors and tourists. The move was successful, and the name stuck, and so it remained. Well, the motto, of course, is unofficial, it says: “Why do we need this literacy?” Yes, self-irony is held in high esteem even at the national level. The fact is that Arkansas schools are recognized as the worst schools in the states.
A bit of history
As in other lands on the American continent, before the arrival of white people in the territory where the state of Arkansas is located today, Indians lived. They hunted, fought among themselves, made agreements. In general, they behaved as Indians are supposed to behave. Until the Spaniards arrived in the sixteenth century. The Spaniards said that now they are the masters here. However, not everyone agreed with this. And for some reason, the French disagreed the most. The French said that they liked these lands, and they would live here.
And while the Spaniards were arguing with the French, the native Indians lived quite calmly on their land. Because of the controversyover the territory and the not fully clarified question of who is in charge here, in reality, only hunters and merchants came from Europeans, who did not particularly offend the Indians.
Well, finally, as always, everything was decided by money. In 1803, the United States took and bought the state of Arkansas (which, of course, no one then called the state) from France. That's what they decided.
Capital of Arkansas
The largest and most famous city in Arkansas is Little Rock, which translates as "little rock" or "little rock." It is a modern city with a well-developed economy. Little Rock is located at the foot of a ridge of rocks on the banks of a wide river. The city has many interesting museums and exhibitions. With special pride, local residents will show the Bill Clinton Presidential Library. And at the same time they will tell about the history of its occurrence.
The local Capitol is also an attraction. There are many interesting sculptures on its territory, which embody the history of the city. Arkansas is a state known for its high-profile struggle for the rights of black citizens. One of the architectural compositions is dedicated to the first nine black students who entered the local school. Other beautiful architectural ensembles can be seen just walking through the streets of the city.
Arkansas Natural Treasure
But the state of Arkansas is not primarily famous for its architecture. Cities in this list are not the main thing at all. There are literally dozens of nature reserves throughout the state. Due to the fact that it is forbidden to use any kind of transport in the protected area, only natural sounds reign around. Among forests, valleys androcks, you can really feel like a pioneer.
There are also many caves on the territory of this cozy and truly natural state. Really a lot. Forty-three thousand! Plus or minus a couple hundred. Many of them were once inhabited by Indians. Today, access to them is open to lovers of adventure and speleology.
Not to mention the hot mineral springs. They are located in the Hot Springs National Park. Nearly fifty hot springs (the temperature of the water coming to the surface is +61 degrees Celsius) daily take out healing waters from the bowels of the mountains. These sources, however, are cultivated, but this is done with skill. Both the mineralogical clinics themselves and the individual bathrooms are simply pleasing to the eye with their beauty and elegance.
Diamond Crater
Back in 1906, a simple farmer John plowed his land. And I found a diamond. Further, the scenario is somewhat similar to how the state of Arkansas was “born”. The owners changed, diamond mining began (and on an industrial scale), something went wrong, someone bribed someone, someone set fire to something … The confusion was complete. Until the state authorities took and bought the coveted plot. Bought it out and turned it into Diamond Crater State Park.
All more or less interesting historical buildings have been preserved on the territory. Here you can see the old rooms for washing the rock and even some mining equipment. Although they do not come here for this. The fact is that any found diamond can be taken fromcompletely legal and free. You will also be weighed, and a certificate will be issued. And they do find it! Not often and not large, but they find. And some were really lucky, and the diamonds they found turned into luxurious cut diamonds.
Saint Francis National Forest
Arkansas is conditionally divided into the following regions: the Mississippi Valley, the Arkansas River Valley, the Mexican Coastal Plain, the Washita Mountains, and the Ozark Plateau. On the plateau is one of the most beautiful reserves - the National Forest of St. Francis. It was founded in 1908 by Theodore Roosevelt, known for his love of forests. It is especially beautiful here in autumn, when the trees are dressed in bright outfits of colorful leaves.
