If there was, for example, a drought, then people carried out a religious procession and asked Iremel for rain. It is likely that the Russians adopted such a tradition from local peoples.

Protection from harassment

Mount Iremel (Bashkiria), according to one of the legends, also served as a place for the indigenous population to hide from the oppression of Russian breeders. The locals took horses there, made fires at the top. Some even believe that the constantly blazing fire at the top has caused the permafrost to melt in the area. According to another interpretation, the Bashkirs were hiding on the top of the mountain not from the Russians, but from the invasion of the Mongols.
