Egypt. Attractions and cultural features

Tourists will not have to think long about what to see in Egypt.

The hallmark and the most ancient structure of the planet are the pyramids. They are located in Giza near Cairo. The Great Pyramid of Cheops is the only surviving monument from the list of the Seven Wonders of the World. Until now, scientists cannot unravel all the mysteries of the Egyptian pyramids.

Here is such a majestic Great Sphinx, looking to the east. A figure of a lion carved from a limestone rockwith a face similar to that of Pharaoh Khafre. Since ancient times, the pharaohs were depicted as lion figures, exterminating their enemies, since the lion was considered a symbol of the Sun God.

It is worth going to Cairo not only to visit museums (although there are many of them), but also to see the city - the largest in all of Africa. Cairo is the capital of the great state of Egypt. Its sights are of interest to people who want to immerse themselves in ancient history. Here it is worth visiting the Museum of Antiquity with its 107 rooms containing more than one hundred thousand exhibits. One of the most interesting is the Royal Mummy Room, which contains the mummies of the pharaohs, various household items from the legendary tomb of Tutankhamun.

Not far from the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh rises Mount Sinai, or Mount Moses, where Christians have been sent for pilgrimage since ancient times. This place also attracts tourists. You will be able to climb at night along a long path to the mountain and meet the first rays of the sun on its top. You can walk the whole way, or you can use the services of the Bedouins, who will offer you a ride on their camels for a small fee.

Be sure to visit Luxor, this open-air museum city. The huge complex of temples and tombs of Luxor itself attracts tourists to Egypt. The sights of the city are historically divided by the Nile River into the "City of the Living" with museums and temples and the "City of the Dead" with the tombs of the pharaohs.

Visit Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt. Its sights are also impressive. The pace of life in Alexandria is calmer than in Cairo. And the city is visited by tourists who want to leisurely examine all the archaeological relics that have survived from the time when this Alexandria was the cultural center of the East.

Of course, the most attractive sights of Egypt for a modern person are its excellent resorts: democratic Hurghada, popular Sharm el-Sheikh and less visited, but also very attractive Dahab, Nuweiba, Safaga and others.

Egypt weather

Excellent time for a trip to Egypt - spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). However, many tourists arrive in Egypt in December and January. It becomes easier to see the sights, as there is no longer an autumn influx of tourists. And the sea is still warm, the air temperature during the day allows you to swim and get a good tan. Only for evening walks you have to wear thin sweaters, and at night it is quite cool (+10 C). In summer, the temperature is even higher than +40 degrees, but this does not prevent many tourists from visiting the country in the summer months. The climate in Egypt is so favorable that it makes the state attractive for tourists almost all year round.
