The first commercial and pedestrian structure connecting the two banks of the river in the capital is the Bagration Bridge. Moscow, and, perhaps, the whole of Russia, has no other similar analogues, made of glass and concrete, which would combine several functions: a river crossing, a shopping arcade and a huge sidewalk.
Bagration Bridge has a span structure. It has quite impressive technical parameters: its length is 216, its width is 16, and its height above the water is 14 meters. The supports of this structure are reinforced concrete, and the base for the channel ones are drill posts, and the coastal one is placed on a natural stronghold.
The author of this unique building is the eminent architect B. Thora, who designed it for the 850th anniversary of the capital in full accordance with the style of a fairly actively developing business center located on Krasnopresnenskaya embankment, which is connected by a bridge with Taras Shevchenko Street on the other side of the river.
Bagration Bridge - two-level. Its lower part, where today the shopping arcade is located, is made in the formglazed throughout the covered gallery. There are numerous boutiques here, and moving sidewalks have been installed for ease of movement.
The pedestrian bridge is glazed in its upper part, but its middle part is open, and in this place it has been turned into an observation deck. The upper and lower floors, with walkways 11 and 15 meters wide, respectively, are interconnected with escalators, stairs, and elevators.
Named after the great commander, the Bagration bridge with its massive structure of metal trusses does not seem heavy or bulky at all. This “lightness” effect is achieved thanks to its streamlined and rounded shapes, as well as the presence of glass in large quantities.
The main entrance vestibule of the bridge, which is part of Moscow City, the business center of the capital, is its ground floor, which in the future will be connected to the underground level of the complex and the metro interchange station through a whole system of escalators.
Today, the Bagration Bridge at its levels offers restaurants, travel agencies, cafes, a beauty salon and even a bowling center to the services of Muscovites and guests.
From the side of the Shevchenko embankment, the bridge ends with a beautiful shady alley, and from Krasnopresnenskaya - a spacious lobby, combined with the ground floor of a five-level building. There is also a cafe and a restaurant, and exhibitions of artists and sculptors are often held.
The lower level of the bridge with its travators, significantlyspeeding up movement, very popular with both adults and children, who can eat ice cream here, relax on comfortable benches or just go shopping.
From the observation deck offers stunning views of the river and embankments. Visitors are very fond of taking pictures here, young people are walking, newlyweds arrange photo shoots.
From seven in the morning this unique Bagration bridge is open, and the entrance to it is free.
Next to it, from the side of Krasnopresnenskaya, there is a convenient berth for motor ships.
