North Carolina is a US state. It is located in the eastern region of the country. The state capital is Raleigh. North Carolina was the first territory in America that the British tried to colonize. Historically, this area was inhabited by a large number of Indian tribes. Sir W alter Raleigh established two colonies along the North Carolina coast in the late 1580s. However, both have fallen into disrepair.
Already in the 17th century. this province in honor of Charles I (the color of England) was named Carolina. At the same time, several settlements were founded here. Only in 1712 did North Carolina begin to be considered a separate colony.
