The village is known from the 16th century, when it was the fiefdom of Boris Godunov. Two centuries later, it was presented by Peter the Great to the boyar Golitsyn, who saved the young tsar during the Streltsy rebellion. The estate in Bolshiye Vyazemy was founded in the 18th century by his descendants. During the Patriotic War of 12 years, Napoleon and Kutuzov spent the night there. Today, the exposition of the Pushkin Museum is located in the Golitsyn Palace. On the estate there is a pond where you can ride a boat.
