The Zhulebino metro station is one of such long-awaited new buildings that appeared on the map relatively recently, but has become very popular among the townspeople.

History and stages of construction

Even in the eighties of the last century, it was planned to open a metro station in Zhulebino. But the implementation of the project was constantly postponed, and after perestroika it was completely frozen for an indefinite period. Only in August 2010 did the Moscow government decide on the need to extend the metro lines beyond the Moscow Ring Road.

Construction took a long time, and the opening date of the station was repeatedly postponed. This was due to both the lack of funding and the forcedmajor circumstances that arose during the conduct of work.

One of these stops occurred due to a breakthrough of groundwater in the tunnel. In this incident, none of the workers were injured, but the rebuilt sections had to be concreted and a branch laid, taking into account the hydrogeology of the site.

On November 9, 2013, the long-awaited opening of the Zhulebino station took place, which became the 190th point on the metro map of the capital. Until 2015, it was the last one in this direction.

New District

Once upon a time there was a small village of the same name on the site of the current Zhulebino municipal district. As the metropolitan metropolis grew, this area became part of Moscow. Today there are modern buildings with a developed infrastructure. In terms of population, it surpasses the average Russian city.

In Zhulebino-Vykhino, before the opening of the Zhulebino metro station, there was a difficult situation with traffic jams during rush hour. The opening of the metro station has significantly reduced the traffic flow and the load on surface public transport. Although, according to experts, the problem has not been completely solved.
