The city of Ljubljana, the sights of which we will briefly describe, is located on the banks of the Ljubljana River. It is the capital of Slovenia and the largest city in the country. The city is incredibly beautiful, but it is especially beautiful in the evening, when you can watch the nightlife of Ljubljana from the windows of cozy cafes. In a two-hour walking tour of the capital, you can see all the most outstanding sights. The town has managed to preserve the historical spirit and authenticity. This place is so stunning that it is often referred to as "miniature Prague". Although the city is the largest in Slovenia, it is quite small in terms of its parameters. For those who love theater

Ljubljana, whose sights are liked even by people who do not like to look at architecture and varioussculpture, first of all, recommends tourists to see the Slovenian National Theater. The opera house was built during 1890-1892. The building project was developed by architects from the Czech Republic Anton Chruby and Jan Hrasky. The building is designed in the neo-Renaissance style.

The facade of the house is characterized by the presence of two niches, decorated with allegorical statues, which display the Comedy and Tragedy of Aloysius Gangl. Ljubljana (we will continue to consider the sights) can safely call this object the best of those in the city. The building of the National Theater owes its unforgettable bow to the luxuriously decorated facade. The majestic structure is supported by Ionic columns. In the niches of the theater there are sculptures of Celebration and Poetry. Above these monuments stands a figure with a flashlight, which embodies the genius.

The house of the architect and his brothers

Ljubljana, whose sights cannot but arouse admiration, is famous for the House of Jerzy Plečnik. This house was bought by the brother of the famous architect - Andrey. The event took place in 1915. And in 1921, Plečnik returned to Ljubljana and decided to live in this estate together with his two brothers and sister. In the courtyard of the estate, the architect erected a cylindrical outbuilding. Later, he created a glass veranda here. Shortly thereafter, Jerzy bought a neighboring house, and transferred this to the conservatory.

But the brothers did not live together for long: one of them, Janez, moved out after a while. Then Plečnik remade the estate to suit his needs. Today, the Plečnik House is part of the exposition of the Ljubljana Architectural Museum. On the territory of the house there is a unique collection, represented by unusual items that belonged to Mr. Jerzy. Plechnik lived in this house from 1921 to 1957. The main collection items are displayed in the cylindrical wing.

20th century bridge

Dragon Bridge was built in the northwestern part of Vodnik Square. Ljubljana (attractions, photos are presented in our article) acquired this object in the last century, and today this monument is guarded by the city authorities. At first, the bridge was named in honor of Frans Joseph I. But very soon after the bridge was opened, its name was forgotten and the structure was renamed the Dragon Bridge. The name was due to the presence of four pedestals of dragons, which are placed at the corners of the attraction.

Dragon Bridge became the first bridge in Slovenia to be covered with asph alt. In addition, this is the first structure of this kind in Ljubljana, made of reinforced concrete. The creator of Ljubljana, according to legend, is Jason. And these same legends tell that he killed the dragon along with other Argonauts. Among the four statues of the object now is this dragon. And locals claim that the animal starts waving its tail at the moment when an innocent girl passes over the bridge.
